Summer Baseball: Lichtenstein, Ashland rout Holliston

SENIOR BABE RUTH

ASHLAND 7, HOLLISTON 1: Mike Lichtenstein threw a five-hitter with seven strikeouts in seven innings and also hit a two-run double to lead host Ashland to its second victory over Holliston this week with a 7-1 win in a Central Mass. Senior Babe Ruth non-division matchup last night.

Lichtenstein?s double keyed a four-run third inning that gave Ashland a 4-1 lead.

Nick Cunningham Derek Masionis each scored two runs for Ashland (9-6).

Stephen Hennessy went 3-for-3, including an RBI single in the first inning that put Holliston (1-13) in front 1-0.

Ashland defeated Holliston 6-1 on Wednesday.

WESTBOROUGH 9, HOPKINTON 2: Greg Alves allowed one earned run on five hits and struck out 10 for the win, and Kevin Blackney had three hits, including a single, double and triple, with three RBIs and two runs scored as Westborough (6-10) romped past visiting Hopkinton (3-13) for the second time this week in a CMSBR non-division game.

Brett Robinson went 3-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI, and Mark McCauley went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run for the Scorpions, who broke it open with five runs in the third and three in the fourth.

For Hopkinton, Chris Moberg went 2-for-3, with an RBI double in the first inning and a single and a run scored in the fourth.

Westborough beat Hopkinton 15-5 on Tuesday.

FRANKLIN SWEEPS NATICK: Chris Koudelka threw a four-hitter in the first game, and Ben Finn and Connor Collins combined on a two-hit shutout in the second as Franklin (11-5) swept host Natick (2-13) by 11-4 and 3-0 scores in a CMSBR non-division doubleheader on Friday night.

Koudelka struck out five for the complete game win. Jimmy Gibson went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and Alex Remillard went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Franklin in the first game.

Mke Abbruzzese went 1-for-3 with two runs scored and a stolen base for Natick in the opener.

Steve Venezia pitched well for Natick in the second game and allowed just one earned run in 5 2/3 innings.

AMERICAN LEGION

BILLERICA 2, SUDBURY 1: John Mielke hit two doubles and scored Sudbury?s run but Post 191 (11-3) was edged by visiting Billerica in a Zone 5 game.

Mike Marshall pitched four strong innings for Sudbury.

Sudbury scored in the bottom of the seventh. Mielke led off with a double and came home later in the inning on a passed ball. Post 191 had the tying run on third but could not score.

Sudbury had runners on second and third with no outs in the first and second innings and failed to score and committed three costly errors.

WALPOLE 5, FRANKLIN 0: Steven Gilbert and Brian Campbell each had a hit for Franklin (10-7-1) in a Zone 6 West loss to visiting Walpole.
