Writing and Poetry: How the Two Actually Coincide | mini-mokiwe.com

Writing is the basic form of human expression next to human speaking and body language. However, writing is a form that can be molded. The choice of words, the structure of sentences, everything matters in writing. Poetry is a form of writing, but one that is artistic and is an expression of one?s ideas through the use of printed language. Writing gave birth to poetry.

The qualities of poetry are simpler than writing. Most writers get away with poetic justice, meaning that the grammar may be wrong in conventional writing, but for the sake of poetry and art, it becomes and functions correctly as it effaces the proper expression of the writer?s feelings. Poetry, at this point, is a form of writing unsuitable for business or technical writing.

Poetry omits details. Japanese poetry, known as the Haiku, only uses three lines that are short. The Haiku reflects Japanese minimalism. Most poetry have minimalism. Some have rhymes to guide the reader and allure the audiences. The basic point of poetry is to describe something narratively while using every event, word and line sparingly.

Understanding poetry is also important. Most poetry focuses on context, connotations and denotations. When reading poetry, one should consider the social structures of the era it was written, the personality of the writer and what they focus on. Poetry is a gift of humanity to the arts. It is to entertain, to be thoughtful, to show compassion and express one?s self.
